Beta Israel community are known as Ethiopian Jews, but some people still continue to call them “ Falasha “ which is a derogatory term that means foreigners or exiles. They have the same rights as other citizens of Israel. However, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Ethiopians on a Five Year Plan recently. The High Court accepted the petitioners’ argument on a Five Year Plan for Ethiopian immigrants in Israel that forces the Government to provide funding for the plan. The decision under Chief Justice Dorit Beinish comes after three years of deliberation, and the court required the Government of Israel to implement its decisions.

The Israel Association for Ethiopian Jews fought for equality, and to improve the treatment of the Ethiopian population. The goal is to improve Housing, Education, employment, Welfare, and the Community. The organization will continue to monitor the developments, and especially the implementation of the court’s decisions.
