part, the relationship stems from ISRAEL's role as the primary US. ally, but beyond that "ISRAEL" holds obvious special religious significance".
That special significance was dramatized at the (February 1988) "National Religious broadcasters convention" where, as usual, the ISRAELI government was represented in tourist booths and in a lavish "prayer breakfast" for ISRAEL. In addition, that year, ISRAELI government and military officials organized a private briefing for "Christian media preachers", with no secular press allowed. The briefing featured "DR Moshe Aumon", chief consul for the ISRAELI government, and "Col Yehuda Levy", an ISRAELI military officer of palestinian origin."Levy" helped lead Israel's famous (1976) Entebbe operation in "OUGANDA" and went onto become an ISRAELI defense forces (IDf) spokesperson during ISRAEL's 1982 invasion of "Lebanon". The NRB briefing took place at the height of the palestinian uprising on the west bank and "GAZA", just days after the "New York Times" reported on ISRAELI military policy of breaking the hands of Palestinian demonstrators.
Lest the religious broadcasters begin to doubt the humanitarian nature of the ISRAELI government, the meeting was designed to tell the untold story about the situation and counteract distortions currently being presented in the media. To make sure that the christian broadcasters would return to their TV and Radio stations with the correct line for their millions of viewers and listeners, the Israelis provided them with pro-Israel film clips, audio tapes and information packets with which to produce programs.

Perhaps, more than anyone else, "Hal Lindsey", author of the late great planet earth and a frequent guest on "Trinity Broadcasting Network"(and since (1984) on his own nationally syndicated weekly radio program), added the issue of "Israel" "security" to the political agenda of the growing "Christian Right Movement". The role of "Israel" in "biblical prophecy" was a constant theme on the major Christian Tv and Radio networks. "Key" events "proved" that "JESUS-Christ" WOULD SOON RETURN THROUGH THE EASTERN GATE OF JERUSALEM: The establishment of ISRAEL as a state in(1948), the migration of "diapora" jews from the SOVIET UNION and elsewhere back to "ISRAEL"; and the (1967) six days war in which "ISRAEL" captured JERUSALEM and began its occupation of the territories known in the bible as "JUDEA" and "SAMARIA". The oil crisis of the late (1970s) fueled discussion of a possible world war beginning in the middle east, and the rightward tum of the Menachem begin administration in ISRAEL further militarized the region.
In(1979), around the same time that "Jerry Falwell" was preaching from his moral Majority pulpit that "To Stand AGainst "ISRAEL" is to STAND AGAINST "GOD"!A group of "EVANGELICAL CHRISTIANS" LIVING IN "JERUSALEM" BEGAN SPONSORING AN ANNUAL AUTUMN EVENT CALLED THE INTERNATIONAL CHRISTIAN CELEBRATION OF SUCCOTH-FEASTS OF "TABERNACLES".("Succoth" is a jewish harvest holiday falling shortly the "high holy days" and close to the fall equinox). Celebrating these feasts is a prophetic sign pointing toward the coming of "JESUS-Christ", said one Feast of "TABERNACLES" organizer.
Also, a critical time from the standpoint of progressive Christians in the United states, the same theological and political justifications that had led to increased mainline christian opposition to APPARTHEID iN South AFRICA ,had ramifications for the plight of the palestinian. In (1979) and (1980), the National Council of Churches, the largest protestant umbrella organization, representing (32) denominations, held a series of conferences and adopted a resolution calling on "ISRAEL" and the palestininan to recognize each others's right to exist and calling on "ISRAEL" to accept the presence of the palestininan liberation ORGANIZATION(PLO) in any peace negotiations. The resolution cause alarm among prominent zionist leaders”. RABBI MARC TANNENBAUM" of the "American Jewish Committee" responded to the "NCC" declaration with a remark to the effect that perehaps jewish groups began forming closer ties with the more staunchy pro-evangelical Christians. With its focus on hopes for a negotiated settlement to the ISARAELI/PALESTINIAN conflict ,the "NCC" was moving in precisely the opposite direction from the ISRAELI government. In a show of complete disregard for international public opinion, ISRAEL declared "JERUSALEM" Its official capital in(1980),(previously it was TEL AVIV), an act that signified "ISRAELI" intransigence over the issue of occupied Palestinian territory. The decision prompted thirteen governments, with embassies until them in "JERUSALEM", to move their offices to "TEL Aviv".

"Jesus-CHRIST" STILL REMAINS INDEED OUR SAVIOUR, FORTRESS, THE ALMIGHTY GOD IN WHOM TRUST ETERNALLY! LET THE ALMIGHTY GOD BE PRAISED AND EXALTED IN THE "IVORY COAST" and IN THE WHOLE AFRICA! The Coming back of "JESUS-CHRIST" IS NOT SO FAR TO SAVE US"...
