Le 16 avril 2011 par Ivoirebusiness - Nowadays, the mass media always play a crucial role both in preserving the old and in ushering in the new. But the main role of
the mass media takes into account the objective informations thorough investigations. In the "Ivory coast", events prior to and after the military rebellion temptation to overthrow president "Laurent Gbagbo" government in september 19th 2002, percolated with conspicuous examples of how the ivorian national media could be a drag or midwife to change, depending on which side the editors as a whole chose to cast their lot. With "Gbagbo"'s government, formally recognized internationaly as the cornerstone of democracy in "Ivory coast", in the other hand propaganda machine has been planned to bring down this proud nationalist african leader by any military french powers possible. Indeed, the french media in the light of the latest ivorian crisis developments, deserves closer and wider scrutiny so that we may fully understand how this european mass media system operates with its given social and political context. As far as the current crisis is concerned, we can conclude and identify that it's a so-called western media in a hurry, but at the same time this is journalism basically grounded in deontology and professional ethics. In the same trend, we ought to instill in the minds of western reporters that the press always makes news litteraly and figuratively. But recent political events in "Ivory Coast" have pointed out the extent of the power both as catalyst and obstacle.
Rapid changes during the last few days in "Ivory coast" not only political set up but also in the media itself are fascinating to study and compare with not so distant recent past of our young independent nation. For most ivorians, the implementation and the continuing aspirations of the working press for freedom and justice for themselves and for their people deserves the widest support. Basically, french media seem to be an institution has been particularly vulnerable to political pressure and machination. Therefore, international power struggle and huge economic interests in the gulf of "Guinea" of all types, have deeply manipulated it to further vested neocolonial economic interests in an independent african country. As a matter of fact, propaganda machine, misinformation have been used as an effective tool to make and to unmake african leaders such as "Kwamé N'krumah", "Lumumba", "Laurent Gbagbo" in some african countries so as to perpetuate néocolonialism and imperialism, to ensure european foreign domination and exploitation of the ivorian economy, to promote the continuing rule of the super powers namely France and USA in West and central Africa...For most ivorians, the almighty still remains right now the only redeemer, fortress, shelter, consequently they are ready to step out with an act of faith and definetely, God can make a way there it seems to be no way...Hands off ivorians, because freedom is worth and must come to all mankind. No surrender, never give up, no retreat!
