footage shot at close range of two alleged "ANC" atrocities: One victim was burned alive with a gosoline-filled rubber tire "necklace"; another was stabbed to death by a crowd of attackers. Cut between the violent scenes were clips of "ANC", president "Oliver TAMBO" and "Winnie Mandela" advocating all-out war against the south african government. Subsequent to the "700 club's" airing of the atrocity scenes, the same film footage has appeared in at least two documentaries distributed by "independent" christian video producers. In the summer of (1987), "the Kentucky"-based about my father's business, Inc began circulating a virulent half-hour video "THE ANC:Atime for Candor, narrated by producer "Rev Rick Schmidt"(who helps "REV Rod Mc DOUGAL" with video production in the phillipines). Among the experts featured is "Craig Williamson"; he is not identified by the narrator, but he was exposed in(1980) as a South african police infiltrator of the anti-apartheid movement. "Schmidt" sent out(5,147) free copies of the video after "ANC" President "Oliver Tambo's" (1987) meeting with secretary of state "Georges Shultz". The tapes went to "opinion leaders" and included an "action kit" complete with suggestions for writing one's congressional representatives and newspaper editors and strategies for speaking on radio call-in shows, "Schmidt" claims that the video tapes generated (1,3555) mailgrams to President "Reegan" protesting the "TAMBO-SHULTZ" meeting. By late (1987),"TED Baeher", president of "God news Communications in "ATLANTA"(GEORGIA), has produced a very similar one-hour documentary called: "SOUTH AFRICA: In their own words", again using the identical atrocity footage. The graphic footage is shocking and highly disturbing. "Viewers see the burning flesh and hear the crowds rage against the victims. Curiously, in none of the video presentations is there an identification of where the violence took place or who the perpetrators were. Instead, the message is conveyed through propaganda technique of quick back-and-forth juxtaposition of atrocity scenes with clips of ANC leaders speaking.
"SOUTH AFRICA'S PROPAGANDA CAMPAIGN OF THE 1980S": Beginning in the spring of (1986), "Christian TV and Radio preachers" sympathetic to the South African government have waged a media campaign designed to persuade their US audiences that "SOUTH AFRICA" has been a victim of liberal media bias and that the AFRICAN NATIONAL CONGRESS is a Soviet(URSS) "puppet" intent on depriving the free world of vital, strategically located minerals necessary in weapons manufacturing. At the February(1986),convention of the national "Religious Broadcasters", a group of "South African businessmen" came to "Washington, DC" to meet with the "NRB" executive committee on the formation of a south african affiliate. The South Africans proposed a series of tours for US broadcasters who came back and produced programs favorable to the SOUTH African government. There are some south African Businessmen who perceive that perhaps their whole future depends on getting a different wiew across in this country", reported "Tom Wallace", "NRB" Executive Committee member and manager of "KFAX Radio Station in California". "NRB" Executive Director "Ben Armstrong" confirmed that the tour was paid for by an "anonymous group of South African Businessmen", but added that some of the money may have come directly from the South African government. "Ronn Haus" of "Family christian Broadcastiing Network" was invited on a south african tour, but cancelled the trip at the last minute, because it was at the invitation of and underwritten by the south african government and I finally decided that I didn't want to be wrongly interpreted as a pawn. Some of the tours were organised by the "Full gospel Businessmen's Fellowship International"(FGBFI) with reduced airfares courtesy of the government-owned south african airways, to promote the tours, the airline produced a 30 minutes video called: "THE OTHER SOUTH AFRICA", narrated BY "STEPHEN B STEPHENS", an Ohio- based "Christian businessman". The video, shown at "Full GOSPEL MEETINGS", includes interviews with respected charismatic leaders: "KENNETH COPELAND","BENNY HINN"," "RAY MAC CAULAY", and urges christians to travel to "South AFRICA" to imbibe its physical and spiritual beauty. The films features footage of integrated church services, sandy beaches, gourmet restaurants and gift shops filed with diamond jewelry at affordable prices. The christian tours, asserted a manager for South African Airways, have been a boon to the South african tourist economy at a time when most vacationers would be fearful to travel to the war -torn region!
It's indeed the conspicuous evidences that how the will and power of South african's media propaganda campaign can be helpful to the country , also be a worthy asset in terms of preserving and pointing out the positive aspects of the country at the time being! Meanwhile, mighty spiritual international organizations can be highly useful and influential to some point for countries international media cleaning campaign !AS a result, african post-colonial states ought to take into account that relevant reality of the international spiritual warfare, when working closely with outstanding and charismatic preacher men and reporters in the same trend of international media cleaning campaign! That kind of international communication strategy can be a boon to the post-colonial african states tourist economy to some extent today!
