"CULTURE AND FASION": "SPOTLIGHT ON THE NEW YORK FASHION WEEK" in USA!

Le 21 septembre 2012 par IVOIREBUSINESS - "New York" fashion week kicked off with an inspiring runaway show recently in USA. African icons presented by "ARISE MAGAZINE". In it, the five collections(TIFANY AMBER, TSEMAYE BINITIC, MAKI-OH, GAVIN RAJAH AND

OSWALD BOATENG) illustrated a cultural mix of fresh ideas, featuring trendy and womenswear and menswear designs, all revealing true glamorous African chic! For these designers, it is no longer only about revolutionary fashion design using the powerful prints and bright colors of african fashion. I believe that fashion is political and the more these designers creations are innovative on the runaway, the more they are becoming a phenomenon of communication showing a social development of african fashion. However, i was disappointed to see the lack of diversity represented on the catwalk. I was expecting to see a real representation of black skin usually underrepresented in the fashion industry! To some extent, it's away to reaffirm the conspicous exixtence of an universal afro-centric authentic black culture by the go-between of a represented fashion !
